Hijacker

This program is often loaded with other software tools via internet. Many Hijackers use stealth techniques or misleading dialogue boxes to perform installation. Hijacker programs will install themselves in the Startup or Registry, so that the Hijacker reinstalls itself every time the computer is started. If you try to change its settings, the Hijacker reinstates the settings upon reboot.

Browser Hijacker
A program that attempts to take control over a user's home page or desktop icons, and setting them to a pre-determined website destination.

System Hijacker
Software that uses the user’s computer resources to proliferate itself or use the system as a resource for other activities. This usually slows down the whole system, network communication, and internet access. It is not easy to detect and remove.
